Corazón Auténtico
Angeles, Sirenes n Diosas
A Note on My Work
It is original and has become a visual language for me defining expression. Combining the real with the abstraction of line, color and feeling It is steeped with an authenticity of texture and grit fed by the Mexican street. It is expressive of the recent “Historias” of the epic struggles many of us have faced the past few years. Many Ángeles estan triste. The Ángeles in many of us have struggled, sometimes in despair and often in the dark seeking authentic light. There is a hope for synthesis, for a little magic and a shared joy in the work but also realization darkness often prevails and chases away our naivety. The Mexicans receive the darkness with more acceptance than most Norte Americanos, celebrate it even, at times. In this is a different sense, an expressiveness I try to bring to the work. A bare nakedness of a stroke left untouched after rehearsed and felt. It is a hope for an authentic heart. And it is a language, a language of texture, line and color. The texture and layers deepen one another with a richness going beyond surface experience.
Corazón Auténtico.
