Types of Residencies
INDEPENDENT:
Creatives from all over the world choose to visit 360 XQMX and Lake Chapala for many reasons. They pay to attend the residency, looking for an intentional artist community located in a very special place with many creative and comfort benefits. Once their reservation is confirmed, I work with them to curate their time here. They can be as connected or independent as they wish. I act as their liaison to the local and regional artist and creative community offering networking and opportunities for exposure and possibly, sales of their work.
Residents plan their INDEPENDENT RESIDENCIES outside the windows of previously scheduled HOSTED RESIDENCIES. For your convenience, we’ve highlighted some available periods below. These dates are static. Availability begins and ends on these specific dates.

FOR YOUR INDEPENDENT RESIDENCY
JURIED:
Several times a year, a "complimentary" JURIED RESIDENCY will be offered through a program called CaFÉ (www.callforentry.org) There might be a focus on a particular demographic ("Photography" or "Writers" or "Mixed Media" for example). Interested participants would submit their application through CaFÉ with an application fee. After all applications have been collected and the deadline has passed, a panel will be gathered to review the submissions. One (or maybe more) recipient(s) will be chosen to win the residency, receiving live/work space to focus on a particular project or possibly explore a new medium. In most cases, the recipient will pay their own transportation costs to and from Ajijic. Recipient will receive luxury accommodations, daily breakfast (Mon-Sat), access to programming and hospitality services provided by 360 XQMX. Additional details will vary depending on the nature of the residency being offered. Applications for a JURIED RESIDENCY will ONLY be accepted through CaFÉ.
HOSTED:
Every year, 360XQMX offers several HOSTED RESIDENCIES that are medium-specific and occupy a specific time period. Possibilities might include: CREATIVE WRITING, or OIL PAINTING, or PHOTOGRAPHY, or FIBER for example. The entire headquARTers is blocked for that particular residency, with special rates for single, dual or triple occupancy in our suites. These residencies are instructional, offering programming that includes a series of multi-day workshops or daily classes, led by qualified and respected instructors, offering the participants a varied experience within that particular medium.
Some combination of meals, supplies and excursion fees are included. Free time is sandwiched between workshops, and participants are responsible for their costs on those particular days. Details for each HOSTED RESIDENCY vary and upcoming opportunities are featured below:

July 2026: Art & Spanish Immersion for College Students (7/1 -7/31)
September 2026: Fall Photography Residency (9/5 - 9/20)
October / November 2026: Dia de Muertos Residency (10/25 - 11/11)
November / December 2026: Creative Writing Residency (11/22 - 12/6)
